Last month we were previleged to collaborate with Prestigious Pieces and Dee Jewels for Haute Accessories Week. This premier fashion event is produced by Lacey B Smith of The Fashion Movement, LLC. The vision was to showcase unique pieces with bridal couture and break from the mold of traditional bridal looks. We loved the opportunity to showcase our stunning gowns with some really special pieces. Send us your comments and thoughts about the show

![]() Trend # 1: Ivory, Blush & Gold Gowns - Ghanaian brides have traditionally leaned towards white wedding gowns, however recent sales indicates this trend is slowly but surely dying down. Brides are reaching out for gowns in bold ivory, champagne and blush tones. Colored gowns provide a fresh and romantic look that compliments most skin tones. It's a refreshing change and it remains to be seen if it is here to stay. Trend # 2: Ball Gowns....yup, Ball Gowns are a huge trend this season. The bigger the skirt the better. Our brides are asking for big pouffy skirts with dramatic details that accentuate their figures. I guess its safe to say, Cinderella's ball gown never goes out of style? ![]() Trend # 3: Demure and Illusion Necklines have always been a huge hit with our Ghanaian brides. Illusion necklines provide an elegant look that is understated but still sexy and beautiful. Illusion necklines were a huge trend in 2016 and it looks like the trend has no intention of slowing down. Gowns with illusion necklines account for more than half of our sales. Trend # 4: Long Sleeves!!!! I have to say, given the unforgiving Ghanaian heat, this trend, one most likely ignited by Duchess Kate's one of a kind Alexander McQueen gown has been the most surprising. Yes, the entire world gasped in pure delight when Duchess Kate stepped out in her wedding gown but I'm still scratching my head at this trend...did I mention it is almost always about 80 degrees Fahrenheit/26 degrees Celsius in Accra? Somehow though, against all the odds, our brides are pulling this off and looking fabulous doing it so we tip our hats to those brave souls. OUR 2017 BRIDAL COLLECTIONSIt’ s no coincidence that we selected stunning Lupita Nyong’o as our birdcage veil model. She is Hollywood’s it girl right now and we declare that the birdcage veil is so in and the ultimate bridal accessory this summer. We love Lupita's effortless elegance, something a birdcage veil is as well...effortlessly elegant
If you are a traditional bride and can’t think of anything but a cathedral veil (think Princess Di) then we urge to you to consider a birdcage veil for the Sunday thanksgiving service or even your traditional engagement ceremony. This versatile wedding accessory is perfect for the sweltering Ghanaian heat because it is lightweight, will not fly in ten different directions while you are trying to get that perfect shot for your wedding album and gives you a sophisticated and timeless look. Why be like every storybook bride. We say chart your own path and be different. Like the veil, it comes in several hues, designs and styles. Here are 3 of our favorite designs |
